THOUGHTS: About Buying A Horse, William Caine in RLSK

Two of the stranger books on Sebastian Knight's bookshelf are Burnand's
_About Buying a Horse_ and Caine's _The Author of "Trixie"_. Burnand's
book (which Brian Boyd finds 'teeth-grindingly' bad but which I find kind
of entertaining) can now be accessed here:

Caine's books, sadly, is not available, but many of his other novels are.
Of these, some may find _The Strangeness of Noel Carton_ rather VNesque. It

The Bookman review of this novel says, in part:
"This book ... takes the reader behind the scenes, as it were, and shows
his how 'twas done. As the author of the book, as well as the author about
whom he writes, became considerably involved in their respective
efforts, "strangeness" is an appropriate description. ... When Carton and
his imaginary characters seem to trade places, the action grows more
intricate until the author (Mr. Caine this time) is finally forced to end
the matter by--but never mind how!"
