Hello,

I just found this list, and so far the archives have been an excellent
resource. I'm glad you've all contributed so much, and seemingly are as
tickled by Nabokov as I am.

This may seem tangential, but having gone through Nabokov's canon (save a
few short stories and the Pushkin translation (a shocking gap, I know)), I
now suspect that it would be most helpful to understand the Russia that he
was coming out of. So, if anyone has recommendations of books of Russian
history, or the Symbolist tradition he came out of, I would most appreciate
it.

Regards,
Steven Somerset
