EDITORIAL: Please read this plaint from your editor before posting

Hello everyone,
Submissions have been arriving fast and furiously over the last couple of days. (Something about Pale Fire, in particular, periodically provokes such discussion on the List.) But there's also a bit of an echo chamber effect.
Therefore, I suggest that we move on from the discussion of apples and wenches.
Also, I would like to ask contributors to hold off from sending a whole series of replies to individual posts. If you find yourself wanting to respond to several postings, perhaps you could combine your responses into a single message.
