Dear Carolyn,
Thank you for a brilliant explanation of your ideas regarding the Korean
student, according to your reading of Pale Fire. Although I am not, as
you
know, among those who accept the crux of your explanation -- that Shade
assumes a second personality based on his having had a stroke -- your
explanations are so faithfully based on your original interpretation of
the
text, and so tenaciously defended, that they always increase my pleasure
in
the book itself.
