atmospheric portents

Dear DN,

This reminds me that the aurora borealis was seen in Austria (almost too
far
south for the effect, though I saw it once in L.A.) the day before the
Nazi
invasion. I only know of this from my mother. I think I have heard that
there was also an aurora-portent related to the first world war - - less
sure about that.
