By coincidence I had also just quoted Dante to Dmitri: ``S'io credesse che mia risposta fosse a persona che mai tornasse al mondo, questa fiamma staria sanza più scosse..." and I must also confess that I'm not learned in dantesque hells and got it (on purpose) from T.S.Eliot's epigraph to The Love Song of Alfred J. Prufrock.
