I think it is really great find!

Dear Jansy,

why did you "permute" JS and CK in your recollection?
And some other things as well... It is interesting...

I quote from the Foreword "I lost my footing and sat down on the
surprisingly hard snow. My fall acted as a chemical reagent on the
Shades' sedan which... swung into the lane with John at the wheel..."

>Like Nabokov and his wife,
> it was Sybil who drove JS to classes and visits (JS didn't own a car, or
> did he?),

As we see, it was not always Sybil, sometimes it was John. It is said
only that "Shade had an inordinate liking for long walks..." VN, as I
remember what was said, didn't drive at all.

I cannot check quickly the whole text, but I remember Jerry (?) answering
to my posting said that Shade didn't do his own type-writing. Anyway,
it is clearly said that he didn't type the PF.

Best,
Sergei
