Dear Don and List..
Stefan Sullivan tries to make VN seem facile, as if he tossed off novels
between tennis games to impress the plebs.
But it is Sullivan who is facile -- does he know nothing about VN sweating
blood over the details, wearing out erasers? Has he never heard of the
scene by the backyard incinerator?
If he gets no pleasure from 'Pale Fire' and 'Pnin', that's a punishment Mr
Sullivan richly deserves.
Best,
Tom(Rymour)
