I'm very fond, of course, of both writers. They both had a "perfectly normal
trilingual childhood." Both writers came from intensely anglophile families and
enjoyed the same writers as children such as H.G. Wells and Arthur Conan Doyle
(for his Sherlock Holmes stories). Both writers used the detective genre for
their own literary designs.
