NEWS IN BRIEF
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 24TH 2005
NABOKOV NOVEL \'TO BURN UNREAD\'
THE last, unpublished novel of Vladimir Nabokov, author of 'Lolita',
is to be destroyed without even scholars getting to read it, his son
said.
Dmitri Nabokov (71), once said the unfinished book, 'The Original of
Laura', "would have been Father's most brilliant novel". Nabokov left
instructions that it be destroyed on his death in 1977. His wife
could not do it and left the decision to Dmitri on her death in 1991.
