August 24, 2005_ -- VINTAGE books is publishing a 50th-anniversary
edition of Vladimir Nabokov's classic "Lolita" with its raciest cover
yet — an up-close picture of a pair of moistened female lips. The
carnally inclined cover will hit stores next month (the first edition
of "Lolita" was published in France on Sept. 15, 1955). Playboy marks
the anniversary with collected musings about the erotic masterpiece
by JOYCE CAROL OATES, DONNA TARTT, PAUL THEROUX and the author's son,
DIMITRI NABOKOV. Lusty literary Web site Nerve is planning a similar
piece featuring "younger writers," we're told.
