Thanks Carolyn for drawing attention to the 'gender-bending' nature of two
of the 'blunders' Nabokov inserted into Ada. Another example of Nabokov's
gender-bending strategy can be found in Pale Fire where Charles Kinbote
plays a Carrollian-style game of "World Golf" and transmutes the
word 'lass' into 'male' in four moves (see PF, 262).
