------------------ Hullo, Don
still on the matter of boundaries and crossings: it seems to me that
Nabokovians seldom remember VN´s " The Eye", when they connect his various
works to a certain theme.
I also wonder if VN was familiar with German poet Rainer Maria Rilke and
his " Die Sonette an Orpheus"? I was thinking in particular about Sonnet
IX:
leisesten Ton wieder verlieren.

Mary, you are wise to read Pulman´s "Subtle Knife" with misgivings. It
sometimes reads as a single voice all over - and it is Kinbote´s ! But I
do like Kinbote!
