1. I got hold of Gerold Frank's THE BOSTON STRANGLER. While the film based
on it leads one to believe Mr. DeSalvo was, unbeknownst to himself, Hyde as
well as Jeckyll, the book (whence the film) does not make this argument.
DeSalvo seemed quite well aware of his activities. Also, he (with one
exception) strangled not by hand but (usually) with knotted stockings
belonging to the victims.
The upshot is that IF VN borrowed the BS split consciousness idea (which
I doubt), it came from the film, not the book. The "BS" was most likely
just a touchstone in the "hands/strangling" motif.

2. The presence of "R" and "AR" is overwhelming in the book. WHY?

3. Our discussion has clarified a good number of obscurities in the text,
but been less informative about their meaning. But perhaps this should be a
Phase II consideration?
