CALL FOR PAPERS

"Teaching Vladimir Nabokov as an American Writer"

Vladimir Nabokov Society Session
American Literature Association Convention
Boston, MA, May 26-29, 2005

How do Nabokov's works fit into courses in American literature? To answer this
question, we seek papers that discuss Nabokov as an American citizen; as an
émigré writer in the United States; as a commentator on and contributor to
American culture; or as someone who both influenced and was indebted to other
American writers. Papers that place such discussion within the context of
pedagogy and curriculum design are especially welcome.

Please send 250-word abstracts or completed papers to Susan Elizabeth Sweeney by
Monday, January 24, 2005, via email (ssweeney@holycross.edu), fax (c/o S. E.
Sweeney at 508-793-3030 or 508-793-3894), or regular mail (S. E. Sweeney,
English Department, Holy Cross College, One College Street, Worcester, MA
01610-2395).

The American Literature Association Convention will be held at the Westin Hotel
at Copley Place, in Boston, from Thursday, May 26, through Sunday, May 29
(Memorial Day Weekend). For more information on the ALA, visit this website:
