just to note, JK Rowling indeed won the court case (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/2914111.stm)
against a Russian writer Dmitry Yemets who claims that his "clone" of Harry -- a girl wizard named Tanya Grotter -- is a parody.
Yemets' book sold half-million copies in Russia, and he planned to publish eight of them.
