EDNOTE. The ADAonline project is an enormous asset to the study of Nabokov's
greatest novel. Brian Boyd's on-going "Annotations to ADA" that have been
appearing serially for some years in the biannual THE NABOKOVIAN and have
now reached chapter 22 of part I. This treasurehouse of detailed
explication by Boyd, unquestionably the best informed authority on the
novel, has been difficult of access for those who do not see THE NABOKOVIAN.
Boyd's annotations for the first three chapters are now available on ZEMBLA,
the web site established by Jeff Emunds and Penn State University. The
site, under the aegis of the International Nabokov Society, will, thanks to
the generosity of the Nabokov Estate, carry the full text of the novel, as
well as Boyd's explications. Eventually, any reader will be able to locate
any part of the novel's text and the relevant commentary. The ADAonline
version of Boyd's notes, which incorporate the work of many other ADA
scholars, will lag behind those on-going in THE NABOKOVIAN so subscription
(automatic with membership in the Nabokov Society) remains essential for the
latest information. Membership is a modest $17 a year. Checks, made out to
the "Vladimir Nabokov Society", may be sent to Professor Stephen Parker,
Vladimir Nabokov Sociey, Slavic Languages and Literatures, 2134 Wescoe
Hall, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas 66045, USA. Inquiries re
overseas subscriptions and other questions should be addressed to Steven
Parker at sjparker@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu.

Rapid progress on this online project requires the assistance of one or
more VOLUNTEER coders. Please get in touch with Jeff Edmunds at ZEMBLA
