Vladimir Nabokov inscribed and sketched elegant colored butterfly
illustrations for Vera and his translator son Dmitri in the first editions
of his works. Those dedicated to Vera are reproduced in the handsome volume
VERA'S BUTTERFLIES by Sarah Funke (Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, Inc: New York
City, 1999). Dmitri Nabokov has now very generously provided NABOKV-L with
images of illustrated dedication volumes presented by father to son and, in
one case, from son to father. Dmitri provides explanatory notes. NABOKV-L
thanks Dmitri Nabokov for these delightful family mementos.
