Ah, but is not 137 the "fine structure constant of the universe" (Eddington)?

It is, but there's an awful lot of stretching going on.

Anthony Stadlen

Dear Mr. Stadlen,

Please excuse my stretching -- my remarks regarding VN & his possible knowledge of fractals were made in response to Jansy de Mello's question, (& not necessarily as a comment to the lemniscate in Pale Fire):

"Would those 'smaller and smaller golden rectangles' of Bernouilli´s logarithmic spiral -brought up by C. Kunin - be in any way related to the findings about fractals? Would VN be familiar with Math, Bernouilli and Fractal theory? "
