Thanks for the bristlecone pine tip-off.
I seem to remember from articles in the National Geographic that a certain
bristlecone pine is the oldest living thing on earth. And Gordon is so
young... I am stumped. Maybe Carolyn or Jansy will have provocative
suggestions on this topic...

A few anagrams -- Elvina (an evil) and bristlecone pine (Nobel recipients)
suggest that VN, suffered from evil Nobel-envy.
In other words, keine ahnung (difficult to be provocative on demand).
