François Rochaix est sur tous les fronts. Mardi, il inaugure Expo.02 avec un spectacle ouvert sur l'Histoire et ses mythes, avant de s'en retourner à Genève où, à partir de juillet prochain, il prendra la tête du Théâtre de Carouge succédant ainsi à Georges Wod.
Le metteur en scène romand (59 ans) tiendra donc, pour six ans, les rênes de la scène carougeoise qui ne lui est pas inconnue, puisqu'il en fut le directeur général de 1975 à 1981.
Sa première saison, présentée début mai à la presse, est placée sous le signe de l'aventure. En d'autres termes, elle prend le large, comme en témoigne l'affiche du programme avec son catamaran fendant les vagues. Comme en témoigne aussi ces quelques mots de Rochaix: «Je souhaite embarquer le public pour plusieurs voyages à travers le temps et l'espace».
Cap donc sur la Russie, principale richesse de cette saison. Au pays de Tchekhov, que Rochaix connaît bien pour y avoir travaillé, les metteurs en scène! s sont nombreux et talentueux. Le directeur de Carouge a invité l'un d'entre eux, Roman Kozak, qui présentera «Hé les filles, votre homme est là !», d'après un texte de l'écrivain Ludmilla Petrouchevskaïa (du 4 février au 13 avril).

De la Russie nous parvient également une comédie de Vladimir Nabokov, «L'Evénement», que Rochaix créera lui-même, en russe, avec les acteurs du théâtre moscovite Ecole du Drame Contemporain (du 25 février au 9 mars).
