For those of you who do not read Russian, the article in Izvestiia is
about a discovery made by a Tula journalist, Aleksandr Svirilin (also the
author of the message below?) that a crucial paragraph, about half a
page long, is missing from the Russian translation of LOLITA. Dmitri
Nabokov apparently compared it with the ms of the Russian translation and
agreed that such, indeed, was the case. He also allegedly promised that in
the next edition of the Russian LOLITA the paragraph would be fully
restored.

Mr. Svirilin also found a typo in the Russian translation -- a "fan"
('veer') instead of "an evening" ('vecher').

A headline of the article reads "Nabokov Hid the Details."

Oleg Dorman sent the same info asking whether the article is accurate. I
don't know but hope we may get a clarification from Dmitri Nabokov.
