I recently reread KQKn and was struck by that allusion and thought it was a reference to Norman Douglas's "South Wind" (1917), which also figures on Sebastian Knight's book shelf.
Sincerely,
A. Bouazza.

Has anyone identified the English novel (set on Capri) mentioned in the
English version of K, Q, Kn? (p.140) The setting is not mentioned in the
Russian.
