The London Times Lit. Supplement of Jul6, 2001 p. 14 mentions that
Sotheby's Literature, History and Illustrated Books Sqale of 10 July
included VN's 1st American ed. of Pnin with the author's 7 handwritten
corrections (not used in the 2nd ed.) and the 1st English ed. of THE GIFT
given to Vera "ornamented with a carefully drawn and beautifully soloured
butterfly (the imaginary Charaxes verae)" containing 26 corrections. The
PNIN is estimated at 5,000-6,000 pounds and THE GIFT at 8-12.
I assume that these were volumes bought from Glen Horowowitz and described
in his (Sarah Funke's catalogue.
