Prize for Russian Nabokov Translator Sergey Ilyin
Date
Body
The journal _INOSTRANNAYA LITERATURA_ ("International Literature") awarded
prizes for best translators yesterday. The most important prize, "The
Illuminator," went to Sergey Ilyin, who translated almost all of Nabokov's
English texts in the excellent SYMPOSIUM publishing house 10-volume edition.
(NABOKV-L has recommended the St. Petersburg SYMPOSIUM edition of the
Russian texts as the scholarly standard for citations.)

Sergey Ilyin, a one-time theoretical physicist and long-time contributor to
NABOKV-L, has told the story of his Nabokov project in a fascinating essay
(in Russian) that may be read on ZEMBLA.

NABOKL-L congratulates Sergey on his prize.
