Brian Boyd's elucidation of glowworms tangentially brings me to
another point of etymology or entomology, as the case may be ...
is ancillula (as Shade's maid is referred to in Commentary) a play
on libellula (dragonfly, as BB points out) or a separate genera?
ObCit: on the ety-/ento- track, consider the Benthamism
"phthisozoics", the art of extinguishing bugs (somehow appropriate
to our software-laden age), whose etymology is indeed buggy
(phthiro- being the "proper" prefix).
