Fassbinder's DESPAIR (fwd)

Having just seen DESPAIR again, after a long time, when I showed it to my
students last quarter, I have to disagree with Christopher re its merits.
While it is a hard movie to film since one can hardly maintain the
suspense of whether Felix is indeed Hermann' double (and Fastbinder does
not even try), I was impressed anew by Fastbinder's directorial mastery
and the superb acting. Far from considering it "dreadful," I, personally,
prefer Fastbinder's DESPAIR to Lyne's LOLITA.
