EDITOR's NOTE. Kostia Vronski <kvronski@yahoo.com> reports these older
German VN dissertaions -- all worth knowing about. The first also exists
in an English translation. Jurgen Bodenstein's book is a treasurehouse of
nicely organized information on N's English style.

1)Herbert Grabes, "Erfundene Biographies" (Found Biographies). with the
subtitle 'Vladimir Nabokov's English novels.' Published by Max
Niemeyer Verlag, Tübengen, 1975. 130 pages An analysis of Nabokov's
English fiction, with very limited biography.
2) 'The Excitement of Verbal Advenutre: A Study of VN's English Prose'
by Juürgen Bodenstein, in two volumes. Published by university Press,
the book is Bodenstein's dissertation, written in English. The first
volume (436) pages is the dissertation itself, the second
(approximately 300 pages) is a bibliography. There is a note that the
author spent two years at the University of texas and earned MA degree
there, before undertaking this study.
3. The book by Renate Hof published under the auspices of 'Amerika
studien' series. The title is 'Das Spiel des Unreliable Narrator.

Published by Wilhelm Fink Verlag, Muenchen, in 1984. 197 pages.
