To all members of the International Vladimir Nabokov Society:

The ALA (American Literature Association) has asked me to supply
them with the name of a contact person to whom they
can send mailings and announcements of ALA activities--beginning
with the master schedule for the ALA's annual convention this May,
which includes the time-slot provided for our Society's session.

During the past few years I have assumed
responsibility for passing on these announcements and mailings to the
individual who has volunteered to organize and chair a Nabokov Society
session at the annual ALA Convention. But I won't be able to do it this
academic year, as I'll be going abroad. In any case, it's time that
someone else took over the job, which is easy enough to do.

The ALA convention is traditionally held in California (previously
San Diego; this year, May 25-28, 2000, at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach)
one year and Maryland (Harborplace, in Baltimore) the next.

The deadline for submitting the name of our official
representative is September 30. I await the name of a volunteer.

Sincerely,
Ellen Pifer
President, IVNS
