Two other items of interest on homosexual figures in Nabokov's work:

1) Jean Walton's essay, "Dissenting in an Age of Frenzied Heterosexualism:
Kinbote's Transparent Closet in Nabokov's PALE FIRE," COLLEGE LITERATURE,
vol. 21, no. 2 (June '94), 89-104.

2) Kevin Ray's conference paper, "'_Mon Semblable, Mon Frere_':
Brotherhood, Silence, and the Unknowable in SPEAK, MEMORY." To my
knowledge, Kevin has never submitted any version of this paper for
publication, but you can find an abstract of it in the Spring '96
NABOKOVIAN. If you want to follow up on it, you can reach him c/o Special
Collections, Olin Library, Washington University, St. Louis, MO 63130.
