EDITOR's WHIM:
In the dark, by-gone days of my professorate, I would occasionally
assign a VN paragraph for close stylistic analysis. Give this one
(submitted by Phil Howerton) a shot. It is drawn from Nabokov's
pseudo-/auto-review of _Speak, Memory_.
Not more than a paragraph or a numbered series of points.

new regions of life. The diamond pattern of art and the muscles of
sinuous memory are combined in one strong and supple movement and produce
a style that seems to slip through grass and flowers toward the warm flat
