Subject
Barbara Braun -- heroine (neznakomka) of "Conclusive Evidence"

I don't have any thoughts on where the name came from, but "Barbara Braun"
brought May Sarton to mind: the sort of well-meaning writer who might
actually be favorably reviewed along with Nabokov. I recall the Nabokovs
lived in a house of hers and cared for her cat (if I'm not totally
dreaming, and I might be) and wonder if there might be a connection and if
anyone else has already brought this up (which seems to be the case with
some of my careless posts). I thought my bookstore years would never
leave me, but I've forgotten all of her many titles I used to shove back
and forth. I wonder if she also used allusions or parts of allusions as
titles.
