I don't remember any "proper musical" opinion of any composer expressed by VN
but I don't have any reference handy at the moment to check.
I think, his opinion on Prokofiev must be based on the latter's return to USSR
from emigration,
the step VN believed morally unacceptable.
Tchaikovsky deserved his beating for vulgarizing "Eugene Onegin" in his opera
libretto.
Did I miss something?
