Kornei Chukovsky and V. D. Nabokov (fwd)
V.D. Nabokov, of course, was also not above noticing class blemishes when
it came to Chukovsky. When he mocked Chukovsky's proletarian English after
they came back from a visit to England in 1916 that was, after all, also
a-not-so-subtle social put down. Chukovsky, as a consequence of his
origin, obviously did not have the luxury of having been taught good
English from early years by a succession of English governesses.
