EDITOR'S NOTE: Jeff Edmunds <jhe@psulias.psu.edu>, editor of ZEMBLA,
calls attention to some new features of his web site. ZEMBLA, under the
auspicies of the Penn State Library and the Nabokov Society) is an extremely
valuable (and ever expanding) research tool for the scholar. AS one
example, yesterday I wanted to checked VN's comments on Lewis Carroll
which are scattered throughout the unindexed STRONG OPINIONS. (Virtually
all VN scholars have squandered hours skimming and re-skimming the book
trying to locate the source for some half-remembered quote.) Some years
ago John DeMoss privately compiled his own very thorough index. The
DeMoss Index is now on Zembla, and I was able to locate the material I
needed in seconds. D. Barton Johnson

A Note on Zembla:

In recent weeks I have heard from students and scholars of Nabokov from
around the world offering additional citations for the Zembla bibliography
of Nabokov criticism, compiled and organized by Dieter E. Zimmer. My sincere
thanks are due to the many helpful correspondents. I invite those of you who
have not yet visited Zembla (at
http://www.libraries.psu.edu/iasweb/nabokov/nsintro.htm) to do so. Your
suggestions for additions are most welcome.

For those of you who use Netscape 2.0 there will be one or two small
surprises. Some visitors have asked about a counter to track the number of
visits, and this too has (finally) been added.
