Fellow Nabokovians--Two items:
1. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to get a copy (better yet two)
of Nikolai Anastas'ev's FENOMEN NABOKOVA. Have any of you seen it or know
where I canget a copy for review in NABOKOV STUDIES?
2. Under the heading of "para-Nabokoviana:" The New York Times Lit
Supplement (last Sunday?, p. 23) has a review of a book called EKATERINA
by Donald Harington (Harcourt Brace & Co.-- whatever happened to
Jovanovich?). The review has the double header "SHE NEEDS BOYS"
and the subtitle "Vladimir Nabokov's `Lolita' haunts this novel about an
exiled princess." Another book playing upon the Lo-tradition is Sasha
Sokolov's ASTROPHOBIA (Palisandriia in Russian) where the extremely
youthful hero is obsessed with elderly women.
3. Maybe Lolita spin-offs could serve as a theme for contributions and
discussion? Don JOhnson
