Subject: Quotation

I have been asked to try to find out the source and complete version of the
following quotation for an editor who is compiling a list of quotations about
sensations. She believes the author of the quotation is Nabokov, and that it is
based on an earlier quotation from Moliere.

"Nothing revives the past as completely as a ...."

She has checked various dictionaries of quotations, which only seem to list the
Moliere original.
