Subject: Re: CHORB

In my copy of Details of a Sunset, Nabokov introduces Chorb, in part, as
follows:

"I have skipped [in this translation] her mother's ponderous name and
patronymic "Varvara Klimovna," which would have meant nothing to my
Anglo-American readers."

Has anyone read the story in the original Russian? If so, could that
person please post what Nabokov means by this? What are English-language
readers missing in this story?

Best wishes,
Boyd Holmes
