Any of the three books of Gjertrude Schnackenberg's poetry but especially
the most recent A Gilded Lapse of Time. She is a developing poet whose
indebtedness stems more from Mandelstam than Nabokov. Luminous images
and a gentle sadness amply make up for the occasional false note.
