1) LEWIS CARROLL IN RUSSIAN: TRANSLATIONS OF _ALICE IN WONDERLAND,
1879-1989_, by Fan Parker (New York: The Russian House, 1994), $15.
Phone 212-685-1010. Among the translations studied is Nabokov's 1922
version which has been reprinted by Dover.

2) Sasha Dolinin has called my attention to the current issue of VOPROSY
LITERATURY [Questions of Literature], 1994, Issue #3 which has a very long
(pp. 44) article by A. Mulyarchik, entitled "Nabokov i `Nabokoviantsy'"
["Nabokov and the Nabokovians"], (pp. 125-169). Professor Mulyarchik
(Moscow State University) spent a recent term at the University of Alabama in
Tuscaloosa where he gave a course on Nabokov. His article is
chiefly a survey of English-language Nabokov studies with particular
attention to the work of Boyd, Field, Connolly, Alexandrov, and many
others. Anastas'ev's recent FENOMEN NABOKOV is also treated.

Mulyarchik's views are, to say the least, provocative. In a few days I
shall pass on a brief summary of the contents of his article. In the
meanwhile, Russian-reading subscribers of NABOKV-L may wish to take a
look at the article. I look forward to seeing your comments on Professor
Mulyarchik's essay.
