Dear List,
Thank you Brian for posting this to the list on my behalf.
I should mention that it was a conversation with Andrea Pitzer (the author
of The Secret Life of Vladimir Nabokov) on Twitter about my discovery that
got me thinking about the possible meanings beyond just set dressing; it
wasn't until I watched the film again after our discussion that the
thematic resonance really properly landed.
Merci!
