community our monthly newsletter, remembering our colleague, and friend,
Sam Schuman, whom memory this newsletter is dedicated.

Vous trouverez à partir de cette newsletter un petit éditorial concocté
chaque mois par l'un des membres de l'association
: si vous souhaitez rédiger l'un deux, n'hésitez pas à contacter notre
présidente Agnès Edel-Roy, qui recueillera votre contribution avec plaisir.
L'idée de cet éditorial est de vous informer de certains événements
marquants concernant Nabokov ou la communauté de ses admirateurs, et de
vous conseiller /remémorer quelques lectures de son œuvre au fil des
saisons.
Comme ont pu le voir ceux d'entre vous qui sont abonnés au forum Nabokv-L,
notre communauté d'amis et admirateurs de Nabokov a perdu fin novembre l'un
de ses membres les plus charmants et les plus érudits. Sam Schuman, dont
nous nous souvenons avec émotion du regard plein de douceur et de la bonne
humeur communicative, nous a quittés, victime d'une longue maladie, comme
le dit la bien triste formule. Sam nous avait fait l'honneur et le plaisir
de participer à notre premier colloque international à Paris en 2013. Il
était le plus grand spécialiste des réseaux intertextuels que l'œuvre de
Nabokov tisse avec les pièces et la poésie de William Shakespeare. Ses
analyses ont éclairé et guidé de nombreux lecteurs qui ne maîtrisent pas
aussi magistralement les œuvres du Maître de Stratford. Son tout dernier
ouvrage est paru en septembre 2014 chez Bloomsbury sous le titre
*Nabokov's Shakespeare*. La publication tirée de notre première conférence
internationale, événement fondateur pour notre association, lui sera dédiée.
Une lecture pour les fêtes de fin d'année

"Christmas", initialement composée en russe en 1924. Vous la trouverez dans

*Dear Enchanted Researchers,*
This is the new version of our monthly newsletter, with an editor’s note
written each month by one of our members. If you would like to participate
and write your own editor’s note, do not hesitate to contact our President
Agnès Edel-Roy, who will be delighted to publish your contribution. The
point of this short introduction to the newsletter is to inform you of
important events related to Nabokov and/or the Nabokovian community, and to
recommend/recall one of his works as the seasons go by.
If you also subscribed to the Nabokv-L forum, you already know that our
Nabokovian community lost one of its finest and most learned members, Sam
Schuman. We all remember his smiling and joyful eyes, his attentive and
amicable comments and suggestions, his communicatively happy spirit. Sam
honored us with his presence at the first international conference the
Enchanted Researchers organized in 2013 in Paris. He was the best
specialist of the intertextual networks Nabokov wove with Shakespeare’s
drama and poetry. His analyses guided and enlightened the many readers of
Nabokov’s oeuvre that did not master the Bard’s works as magisterially as
Sam did. His latest book, *Nabokov’s Shakespeare*, was published in
September 2014 by Bloomsbury. As a sign of our affection and admiration for
him, the proceedings from our first conference, a founding event for our
society, will be dedicated to his memory.
We would also like to suggest a Nabokov reading for the holiday season, by
reminding you of the beautifully touching short story aptly entitled
"Rozhdestvo" / "Christmas", which Nabokov wrote in Russian in 1924. You
will easily find it in the *Complete Short Stories* of Vladimir Nabokov.

Le Musée des Suisses dans le Monde a l’honneur de participer aux
célébrations des deux cents ans des relations diplomatiques entre la Suisse
et la Russie, à travers une exposition exceptionnelle. Des documents
historiques présenteront les liens diplomatiques forts et durables qui
existent entre les deux pays depuis 1814. Une sélection de peintures et de
documents témoignera de l’importance de l’immigration et de l’empreinte des
artistes russes en Suisse et de la Suisse sur leurs œuvres, comme pour Léon
Tolstoi, Alexey Jawlensky, Ilya Repin, Marianne von Verefkin, Feodor
Matveev, Nikolay Dubovskoy, Gerhardt von Reutern

The Museum of the Swiss Abroad is pleased to participate in the
celebrations of the two hundred years of diplomatic relations between
Switzerland and Russia, through an exceptional exhibition.
The strong and enduring diplomatic links between the two countries since
1814 will be presented through historical documents.A selection of
paintings and documents will reflect the importance of immigration and the
imprint of the Russian artists in Switzerland and the influence of
Switzerland on their work, as it was the case for Leo Tolstoy, Alexey
