Vladimir Nabokov

Nabokov's Hundredth Birthday

“What’s left to give a happy genius?”

                                                     – Pierre Delalande

Dear Sir: I did not think I needed

an Apple full of bytes and RAM

(my memory has far exceeded

the formatting of who I am),

but once I “booted up” – if that is

the proper term? – and checked the status

of various “browsers,” began to race

my mouse through mazes of hyper-space –

this centenarian was enchanted!

A world-wide web of hyper-sense . . .

a pedant’s perfect present tense . . .

the linked scholia I always wanted . . .

I thank you, Sir! best wishes from

<VN@lol.com>.
