Has there ever been any specific mention of King Charles fleeing Zembla in 1959 and the Dali Lama fleeing Tibet in the same year? This was still big news when book was being written and I wonder how much it may have influenced Naokov's description of the flight and its timing. There is of course one direct reference to Tibet in Pale Fire, but not in the context of a ruler feeling a communist takeover.
